Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is a potent lymphoid cell growth factor which stimulates the growth and survivability of certain B-cells and T-cells. Mouse IL-6 is a 21.7 kDa protein containing 187 amino acid residues.
For most in vitro applications, mouse IL-6 exerts its biological activity in the concentration range of 0.1 to 10.0 ng/mL. Responding cells are (partial list): B-cells, hybridoma cells.
Biochem/physiol Actions
The ED(50) was determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of the proliferation of IL-6 dependent mouse 7TD1 cells is ≤ 0.02 ng/mL
Physical form
Sterile filtered, and then lyophilized with no additives.
Storage and Stability
The lyophilized powder is stable for a few weeks at room temperature, but best stored at -20ºC for up to 12 months after date of receipt. After a quick spin, reconstitute with sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers and stored at 2-8°C for one week or -20°C for future use. Reconstituted mouse IL-6 should be stored in undiluted aliquots at -20°C for up to 6 months.
